Grimpday 2025

At the beginning of June, another edition of the prestigious rope rescue competition GRIMPDAY took place. Insiders know that the traditional home of this event is Namur, Belgium, but this year’s Swiss Edition was held in Geneva, Switzerland. The Czech team, Fire Brigade Czech Republic, set off for the city on the shores of Lake Geneva with a challenging mission – to defend last year’s victory.

This year’s start list featured 32 teams from various corners of the world. The Czech squad consisted of rescuers and trainers from the Fire Service College of the Czech Republic, the Fire Rescue Service of the Hradec Králové Region, the Fire Rescue Service of the Liberec Region, and Lukáš Neklan from our POLYGON Singing Rock.

During four competition days, rescue teams had to evacuate injured persons from a wide range of environments – from various buildings, an electricity pylon, a silo, a bridge, or from a cabin of a Ferris wheel. Some tasks also included a river traverse, rafting, or providing first aid.

Before the competition, the Czech team trained diligently at the firefighting training ground in Velké Poříčí, at the Singing Rock POLYGON in Poniklá, and also in the field – for example, at the former mine in Žacléř, at the textile factory in Železný Brod, and on the footbridge over the Elbe River in Hradec Králové. And the thorough preparation paid off.

The Fire Brigade Czech Republic team took part in Grimpday for the fourth time and once again achieved an excellent result in strong international competition. At their first appearance a few years ago, the Czechs placed fifth, then second, last year they won, and this year they took home the silver medal – finishing in second place between the first team, Intervention Rescue from the United Kingdom and Go Ropes from Poland in third place.

We are extremely proud of this fantastic result and pleased that SINGING ROCK once again contributed to the Czech team’s success – both through material support and through Lukáš Neklan, who shared his experience and know-how in the field of work at height.

Congratulations!
