Rescue Great Day has become a regular event for the Czech team, proudly supported by Singing Rock. The Czech crew is consisted of members of the Fire & Rescue Service of the Railway Administration and a trainer from POLYGON Singing Rock. This prestigious international rope rescue competition takes place in the beautiful surroundings of the Spanish city of Seville.

(Team consisting of: Jiří Hrabě, Martin Kadlec, Pavel Kotouč, Roman Kešner and Viktor Pešek)
Four days of tactics, sweat, and rescue operations
The competition is divided into four days. On the first day, there is team registration and an optional warm-up training round, in which teams complete a series of easy tasks. At the same time, there are workshops and sales events held by companies that produce climbing, rescue, and other equipment. The next three days are devoted to serious competition. One day is traditionally held in a natural landscape, while the other two take place in an urban environment. This year the organisers moved the date forward to the end of April, which proved to be a good decision – temperatures in Seville were kept at a reasonable 34°C.

The biggest challenges and successes of the Czech team
This year, the teams faced 11 competitive challenges that tested physical and technical skills, cooperation, speed and ability to improvise. The first day of the competition took place in the beautiful surroundings of the Embalse de la Minilla dam. The task was to rescue an injured hydroelectric worker from the area of the dam overflow. That team had to get to the injured person as quickly as possible, put him on a stretcher, and then get him up onto the dam. The most technical discipline was the rope obstacle course, the core of which was a giant pipe that all the rescuers and the casualty in the stretcher had to climb. This part was the most difficult and the Czech team received the most penalty points here. On the other hand, the rescue of the casualty who fell into the construction chute and got stuck inside was great. The rescuer had to run down to him head first, improvisationally securing him so that the injured worker could be pulled up. Here, the Czech team excelled, had fast time and no penalty points. That's the best and worst of this year's event.
Solid result and confirmed participation in 2026
Among 41 teams from 17 countries, the Czech crew Rescue Czech Republic took 13th place. Considering the team's new lineup and record competition, with the highest number of teams participating in the history of the competition, this is a very good result. Due to the enormous interest in participating in the competition, the organizers have introduced a new selection system for future editions, and we are happy to announce that the Czech team has been selected and will be among the 32 teams that will compete next year at Rescue Great Day 2026.
So, keep your fingers crossed!
